“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”
Notice how you are called to in secret, without other people aware of how, when or what you are praying.
At this time of global unrest, for whom do you feel called to pray for and with this Lent—those fleeing to our country for safety? . . . someone suffering from an addiction? . . . families experiencing discord? . . . those with inadequate food, clothing or shelter?
Allow some concrete object to remind you of those persons as you pray.
Heritage word–“Let us not waste this season of Lent, so favorable a time for conversion!”
