Our Mission | Our Charism
The Sisters of Notre Dame are apostolic women religious whose mission is to proclaim God’s goodness and provident care through lives of service. Dedicated to education in all its forms, we minister in a variety of areas including schools, religious education, pastoral ministries, health care and outreach to the poor and oppressed. We respond to the needs of the times and share God’s compassionate love with people of all faiths and cultures, particularly those who are poor and marginalized
The Sisters of Notre Dame share in the special gifts of the Holy Spirit given to our spiritual mother, Julie Billiart, to our foundress, Hilligonde Wolbring, and to our co-foundress, Elisabeth Kühling for the church and all humankind. We recognize this charism as a deep experience of God’s goodness and provident care, moving us to a compassionate love, especially for those most in need. Constitutions, Article 2
Living in the footsteps of our foundress, Sister Maria Aloysia Wolbring, we strive for excellence in all forms of Christian education with special focus on those who are poor and marginalized. We meet the intellectual and spiritual needs of children and adults at all age levels in many schools, parishes, in health care and through social outreach in 12 different states, Germany, Rome, and in Papua New Guinea.
