“Jesus said: ‘I am the good shepherd.
A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
When have you seen/heard of a person “lay down her/his life” for someone else? (Sisters Ita Ford, Dorothy Kazel, Moira Clark, Dorothy Stang, Miss Jeannie Donovan, Archbishop Oscar Romero, a serviceman or policeman who throws himself in front of someone and takes the bullet, and the Christians martyred by ISIS did just that.)
What touches you as you think of any of them now?
If you wish to be that kind of person, ask God for that degree of love and faithfulness.
Heritage word—“Act and do everything with great liberty of spirit in God and for his greater glory.”
(St. Julie Billiart, Spiritual Mother of the Sisters of Notre Dame)
