Saturday Gospel

“Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

Some translations use “Happy” instead of “Blessed.” ”What quality of soul would a person need to be happy in the condition described here?

Have you ever been mocked or ridiculed for your Christian beliefs or have you concealed your faith out of fear or human respect?

In retrospect, what grace do you now feel in light of that experience?

Heritage word—“Most of all, Jesus models for us what is perhaps the most important skill for (Christian) living, the grace of ‘laying down one’s life for one’s friend.”
